Filed under Forex Books and Courses
The foreign exchange market is the largest in the world, with an estimated $1.6 trillion average daily turnover. This book sets out to introduce the novice to the practical skills necessary to understand the foreign exchange market today.
A Foreign Exchange Primer provides a clear understanding of how this market functions, from the main products through to the techniques used, coverage of the main participants, details of the various ′players′ and an understanding of the ′jargon′ used in everyday dealings.
This concise, highly accessible primer is ideal for anyone new to or wanting to become involved in the foreign exchange market, from a dealing room or sales perspective through to the novice investor.
Reviews
This book clearly and thoroughly explains an often complicated subject, in a friendly and clear tone. It covers a multitude of subjects, from the origins of currency trading, to the future of Forex trading after the advent of electronic trading. Highly recommended to anyone (especially good for those new to the subject)wishing to explore the subject of Foreign Exchange!
Although this book is primarily written for people that are clueless about foreign exchange (FX), it will actually teach the clued-up a thing or two also. The broad range of topics covered is what you’d expect to find in a book that is considerably thicker and more expensive – there’s a detailed insight into the marketplace and its participants, the products (spot, forwards, swaps, options), fundamental vs. technical analysis, and more. The author writes in a concise, but extremely readable style and makes extensive use of pictures and diagrams. Furthermore, the book is bang up to date with recent developments in FX, such as the Euro and electronic dealing (that is, at the time I wrote this review). Finally, as an added bonus, this book is not biased towards the US or the US dollar, which I feel is especially appropriate for an FX book. Highly recommended!
This book is highly recommanded to understand the basics of the FX markets and the several instruments traded on it. Although not the size of Julian Walmsley’s bible (full of details), this book is very efficient and very well written. It will be useful for any person wanting to know about FX techniques, being a student or a professional.

When I was starting out in trading I used a lot of information from Ed Ponsi. I had seen him on various channels such as CNBC, CNN and the BBC and starting following his advice as closely as I could in order to verify it for myself. He is currently the president of FX Educator and a managing director of a Capital Management firm but finds the time to post information for those of us without the funds to employ a management firm or indeed without the knowledge needed to start our own websites.
His style is very laid back and easy going, if you are looking for a no B£lls!%t teacher then this would be your man! Ed Ponsi carries out various seminars throughout Europe and the USA and the reviews so far have been great, with many people being repeat customers of his seminars, claiming that it is quick fired with good trading strategies, which he is not afraid to share, which let’s face it is the problem with half of the forex people out there.
If you are looking for someone who speaks their mind, will share tried and tested trading strategies with you and has proved themselves to be a true forex mentor to help you gain forex profits. Then Ed Ponsi is for you.

What is Forex About? – A Beginners Guide
If you are a beginner forex trader or simply doing some research into how profitable the market can be you may be daunted by the world of currency trading. However the basics of fx trading is really very simple to learn, but you will ned to learn the terminology used by most traders to fully understand the market.
Large profits is initially what attracts most people to the forex market and while it is possible to make a large amount of money in a very short space of time the risk to your capital is a large one, with around 90% of people losing money in the forex market. As the rates of forex can change very quickly the margins do allow for a trader to make vast sums with only a small amount invested but first one must understand the fundamentals of how the market works.
If you have ever gone on a foreign holiday you will grasp the concept that the rates of a currency are always changing, what you chage over before you leave is almost never what you get back when you return. You may have made a profit or alternatively you may have made a loss. Currency traders place trades on which way they believe the rates will move and hope in turn to make a profit, however instead of using a bank or a bureau de change for this transaction, forex traders use a fx broker.
These days it is possible to do your trading online where money that is held by your broker is leveraged to buy you much larger volumes of a currency and in turn (hopefully) making you a larger profit. It is always prudent to mention that these gains can also swing the other way and many people find their balance wiped out in a matter of trades simply because they have used too high a leverage.
A forex trader is not limited to trading simply in their own country, trading takes place all over the world in every currency in the world and because of the time zones is available 24 hours a day from Monday morning in Australia to Friday evening in New York.
A currency is always represented by 3 letters and many people will already be aware of their own currency letters or those of the larger countries such a USD (American Dollar) or GBP (British Pound). The rate will be represented as GBP/USD 1: 1.65, meaning that for every one pound of GBP you have you can exchange it for 1.65 of US Dollars
Usually a good place for anyone to start is a little researching into which forex broker you are going to use. The best method I have found for this is to talk to other forex traders about their experiences and which brokers they would recommend and possibly more important which they would avoid. Make sure you read all of the small print before you sign up as many brokers or investment companies can hide charges in the small print that can eliminate your profit.
You can also use a forex trading robot to trade for you, this is a set and forget piece of software and you can find more information about trading robot and which ones to use and which to avoid at www.profitwithforextrading.com. You can use a demo account in order to familiarise yourself with how a fx robot trades and decide if this method is the best one for you. My recommendation is always to familiarise yourself with not only trading robots but also how to trade the market yourself and make your own decisions as you cannot always rely on a piece of software to know which way a market news announcement is going to send a currency and making your own decisions and putting the time into understanding what you are doing will serve you well in the future.
